The year 2009 saw continuation of all our clinical and research activities. The elective operative workload of the department has increased significantly and we have waiting list of over two weeks for elective neurosurgery. The shortage of staff persists. Despite the shortage of senior staff as well as resident, we not only continued to offer quality neurosurgical treatment but also continued pioneering research work. We now have two fully functional OT’s with state of the art OT tables, lights and operating microscopes and cauteries. We have the Leksell Stereotactic System for minimally invasive neurosurgery. We have procured Carl Storz Neuro Endoscopic System and ‘C’ Arm Image Intensifier which has added significantly to our armamentarium. We have done over 100 procedures using these equipments.
The Stem Cell Research Laboratory and Minimally Invasive and Functional Neurosurgery division continues to do its pioneering work.
Our publications work continued and many presentations were made in International, national and zonal meetings.
