Facilities & Infrastructure

Out-patient services: - The ENT OPD has an average attendance of about 150 patients a day. Most of the patients are from the nearby Dharavi and Sion-Koliwada areas, but patients are referred from different parts of the Maharashtra and sometimes from the other states as well. OPD services are run everyday (Monday to Saturday).

Surgical services: - The department conducts elective and emergency surgery throughout the year. About 1000 major and minor surgeries are done yearly. In addition to the routine ENT surgeries, advanced endoscopic skull base surgery, phonosurgery and oncosurgery is done on a regular basis.

UG and PG training: - The department trains UG and PG students in the OPD and OT and also via classes, lectures, demonstrations, seminars etc.

Audiology and Speech therapy: - the department has a dedicated audiology and speech therapy unit. About 4000 audiograms and 1000 speech therapy sessions are conducted every year.

Medical camps: The ENT Department conducts medical camps for clinical examination and audiological evaluation at various centers in the city. One such camp is held every year at Pise – Panjarpur pumping station for the benefit of the workers working in noisy environment.

Special Services :-As part of its endeavour to bring the latest and advanced medical care to the common man, the department has started the voice clinic and oncology clinic. The department has started aquiring the latest equipment and expertise for conducting these special services. These clinics provide an excellent opportunity to train young doctors in the latest trends and concepts.

Voice clinic: - A specialised weekly clinic for diagnosis and management of voice disorders is conducted. It facilitates speedy and accurate diagnosis of voice disorders. Treatment is planned by the ENT surgeon and the Speech therapist on the spot.

Oncology clinic: - Under the guidance of Dr. Sultan Pradhan, the well known Oncosurgeon, the department is conducting a weekly oncology clinic to cater to the needs of head and neck cancer patients. Patients coming to the OP with head and neck cancers are evaluated in detail and plan of action formulated. The patients requiring surgery are operated at the earliest while those requiring chemotherapy and radiotherapy are referred to suitable centers.

Academic Events:-The Department conducts an annual workshop on Endoscopic Sinus Surgery which attracts delegates from all over the country every November-December. The workshop aims to provide solid foundation in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery for young ENT surgeons. Over the years it has gained a reputation for its excellent faculty, hands-on dissection on fresh cadavers and impeccable organisation
