  1. Pediatric Emergency workshop at Trinity 2023

 The Workshop on “Pediatric Emergency” for Trinity International student conference was organized by Department of Pediatrics , Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and it was conducted on 23rd June 2023 at LTMMC & LTMGH in Pediatric seminar Hall between 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. Dr. Radha Ghildiyal (HOD & professor Department of Pediatrics) & Sanjeevani Masavkar (I/C PICU, Associate.Prof) were the organisers .

 Faculty Involved were -Assistant Professors: Dr Savita Khadse, Dr.Apurva Shah , Dr. Amarinder Oberio, Dr.Nilesh Belsare ,SMO-speciality medical officers: Dr. Manjunath R., Dr. Niharika Kori ,Fellow PICU : Dr Vaishali Deshpande and Trinity Team: Dr Naman

 50 students participated from different parts of Maharashtra .Various topics i.e Recognition of Sick child, Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation , Airway management , Approach to Pediatric Poisoning were covered .Hands on training was conducted for the above and the students learned the emergency procedures. The workshop was a great success with excellent participation!

  1. The Pediatric Endocrinology CME, 2023

 

The Pediatric Endocrinology CME was held on December 17, 2023, with the aim of providing healthcare professionals with the latest updates and advancements in the field of pediatric endocrinology. The event focused on various topics related to endocrine disorders in children, with a particular emphasis on diagnosis, management, and treatment options of short stature and puberty disorder. The CME was attended by 150 delegates. The faculty included national speakers Dr Vaman Khadilkar, Dr Prashant Patil, Dr Nikhil Shah, Dr Madhura and Team Endocrinology from LTMGH, Dr Savita Khadse , Assistant Professor .Dr Radha Ghildiyal , Professor and Head , Department of Pediatrics welcomed all the delegates and faculty .

Key Topics Covered:

  1. Growth Disorders: The session highlighted the evaluation and management of growth disorders in children, including short stature and delayed puberty. The discussions revolved around growth hormone deficiency, Turner syndrome, and constitutional growth delay, providing insights into appropriate diagnostic techniques and treatment options.
  1. Workshop gave insights into hands on training of all delegates for various anthropometric measurement like: height, weight, upper segment and lower segment measurement, waist circumference measurement, puberty assessment, growth chart plotting on recent growth chart, bone age estimation. 

The CME was an enriching experience for all delegates and it enhanced their ability to provide optimal care to pediatric patients with endocrine disorders

 

  1. 11th Annual CME of Dr. Athavale Foundation and Pediatric Alumni of LTMGH-DAFPAL 2023

The 11th Annual CME of Dr. Athavale Foundation and Pediatric Alumni of LTMGH - DAFPAL 2023 was hosted by the Department of Pediatrics. The theme of the CME was Pediatric Pulmonology, from Airways to ZZZZ.. The Organizing Chairpersons were Dr Jayshree Mondkar and Dr Radha Ghildiyal with the Organizing Secretaries being Dr.Yashwant Gabhale and Dr. Sadhana Zope. Respected Dean Dr. Mohan Joshi Sir graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The talks and panel discussions by a galaxy of expert speakers were interesting and interactive with topics ranging from issues faced in day-to-day practice to advanced Pediatric Pulmonology like Bronchoscopy and Pediatric Sleep Medicine. Dr. Sandeep Bavdekar was awarded the prestigious Dr. Armida Fernandes Oration. T was, overall, an excellent CME with more than 200 delegates.

 


  1. Bimonthly scientific meeting , Staff and Research Society

The Bimonthly scientific meeting of Staff and Research Society was held on 5th December 2023 In the Physiology Lecture Hall , College Building 3rd floor . Faculty from various departments presented their research work . Dr Arpita Adhikari , Associate Professor , Department of Pediatrics presented a paper on Neurodiagnostic Evaluation of a child with first Complex Febrile Seizure.

  1. Guest lecture on Pediatric Rheumatology

A guest lecture on Pediatric Rheumatology disorders , approach and examination was taken by senior Pediatric Rheumatologist, Dr Raju Khubchandani in Novemeber 2023 . It was attended by all the faculty members and residents from LTMGH. Also students from various other institutes attended the lecture in large numbers . The talk was highly appreciated and was an enriching experience

34th Annual conference of the Indian Society of Pediatric Nephrology,ISPNCON 2022 was held on 3rd-4th December 2022,at the Jio convention center, Mumbai. Faculty from the Deaprtment of Pediatrics, LTMGH actively participated in the conference .

Scientific program - September 2022

  1. Pediatric Endocrinology CME

The Department of Pediatrics conducted a half day CME on “Pediatric Endocrinology Deciphering the Play of Hormones”. 180 delegates registered for this academic feast, where the focus was on case based Practical Approaches, to Diabetic Ketoacidosis, growth charts, Congenital Hypothyroidism, Obesity, a panel discussion and a mixed bag of short cases and spot including rickets, Precious puberty, Ambiguous genitalia to name a few.

The speakers included Dr. Vaman Khadilkar, Dr. Sudha Rao, Dr. Prashant Patil, Dr. Savita Khadse and Dr. Nikhil Shah, The MMC point was awarded to all the delegates.

  1. DAFPAL CME –

The 10 th Annual CME of Dr. Athavale Foundation and Pediatric Alumni of LTMGH- DAFPAL 2022 hosted by IAP Navi Mumbai under the guidance of DAFPAL President, Dr. Prashant Moralwar. The theme of the CME was Pediatric Infectious Diseases , Debug the doubts .The organizing chairpersons were Dr Prashant Moralwar, Dr Suhas Prabhu, Dr Rada Ghildiyal, Dr Subhash Rao, Dr Jitendra Gawhane . It was held at Hotel Taj Vivanta , Navi Mumbai. The talks and panel discussions by galaxy of expert speakers was interesting and interactive. Dr.Vijay Yewale gave the prestigious Dr. Armida Fernandes Oration. This year’s gold medals and travel fellowship was awarded during the Inaugural function. Overall an excellent CME with enriching science .

Scientific program - August 2022

  1. CME on Basics in Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation on the occasion of Successful Completion of 7 years of Bone Marrow Transplant services.

On 26th August 2015, the first Bone Marrow Transplant in a government institute took place at LTMGH, Sion. It was the first such centre exclusively for Pediatrics and the first in Maharashtra and BMC. Since then the Department Of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Hemato-Oncology has gone from strength to strength. More than 60 BMT for various diseases like Thalassemia, Aplastic Anemia, Immunodeficiency Disorders and cancers like Acute Leukemia and Myelodysplastic Syndrome etc have been done so far. To celebrate the occasion of successfully completing 7 years of BMT, the Department Of Pediatrics held a CME on Basics in Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation on 25th August 2022 to felicitate the patients, donors, and all the supporting Departments. It was inaugurated by The Dean of LTMGH Dr. Mohan Joshi and the dignitaries who helped nourish the BMT Unit along with the children who had undergone BMT at Sion. The first child to have undergone BMT at Sion also attended the function. This was followed by an academic session where Pediatricians were educated and sensitised about BMT. It started as a nostalgic event for the patients and the treating doctors to meet in such a social forum and it was followed by an academic feast in keeping with the LTMGH standards.

  1. Monkey Pox Guidelines Seminar– A seminar was conducted on Monkey Pox Guidelines, Approach and Management in the Pediatric Seminar Hall on 12th August 2022. The seminar was presented by Dr Apoorva Heradkar (Senior Resident). It was attended by entire faculty of the department and residents.
  1. H1N1 Guidelines Seminar– In view of the upsurge of H1N1 cases, to keep abreast with the management and the latest guidelines, a seminar was conducted on H1N1 guidelines, Approach and Management in the Pediatric Seminar Hall on 12th August 2022. The seminar was presented by Dr Niharika Kori (Senior Resident). It was attended by entire faculty of the department and residents.
  1. Guest Lecture – A guest lecture on Approach to Congenital Heart Defects was conducted on 28th July 2022 in the Pediatric Seminar Hall, LTMGH. The faculty speaker for the same was Dr Shreepal Jain, Consultant Pediatric Interventional and Fetal Cardiologist at B J Wadia Hospitals, Mumbai. The lecture was well appreciated by the entire faculty and the residents and was an enriching learning experience for all.

 

  1. 35 th IAP UG Quiz Divisional Round

The 35 th IAP UG Quiz Divisional Round was conducted on 17th August 2022 at LTMGH, Sion in Dhanwantari Hall by Department of Pediatrics. The Quiz Co-ordinator was Dr. Sanjeevani Masavkar, Associate Professor. The Quiz masters were Dr. Aditi Dharap, Assistant Professor, Dr. Apurva Shah, Assistant Professor, Dr. Amarinder Oberoi, Assistant Professor , Dr. Darshan Hegde, Senior Resident We had a total of 9 participant teams. Four of them were selected for the final quiz rounds after conducting elimination round. We had to conduct two tie-breaker rounds. The finalist college teams were from RGMC, Kalwa, H.B.T.M.C and R.N. Cooper Hospital, LTMMC and LTMGH, Seth GSMC and KEM Hospital. The main quiz consisted of 6 rounds. We had an audience of 50 people. The winning team was Seth GSMC and KEM Hospital. The runner-up team was H.B.T.M.C and R.N. Cooper Hospital .Cash grant was given by Indian Academy of Pediatrics to the winning team and runner-up team as reward. The quiz was a great success with excellent participation!

DAFPAL CME 2018  - Luminal gastroenterology in children fixing and unclogging the conduit of life 

The 7th Annual CME of the Dr. Athavale foundation and Pediatric Alumni, LTMGH was hosted by the Department of Pediatrics on 19th August 2018 at LTMMC. The theme of the CME was “Luminal Gastroenterology in children - Fixing and Unclogging the Conduit of Life”. Speakers of National repute were a part of the esteemed Faculty. The CME was a huge success with almost 225 delegates benefitting from the sessions which focused on Pediatric Gastroenterology, albeit from a Pediatrician’s perspective. For the first time since the foundation has come into being was a DAFPAL CME Webcasted Live with almost 140 people all over India logging in and relishing this academic feast.
