The Intensive Coronary Care Unit located on 2nd floor is spread over an area of 1000 square feet and has 14 beds.The annual admissions to the ICCU is ~ 2000 per year and consists of patients with Acute Coronary Syndromes, Heart failure, Complex life threatening arrhythmias, Complete Heart Blocks, Pericardial tamponade, Valvular heart disease with Pulmonary edema, Infective endocarditis causing hemodynamic compromise etc. This ICCU also caters to the patients with post catheterization complications. The ICCU is well equipped with one Senior Registrar and two Junior Doctors working round the clock. 4 out of 12 beds are equipped with multi parameter monitors which continuously monitor the Electrocardiogram, NIBP, Respiratory rate and Oxgen Saturation. Rest of the beds have Electrocardiographic scope monitoring .There is a central monitor which has the facility for recording and storing on-line ECG tracings of the ICCU admitted patients . There are facilities for temporary pacing, Defibrillation, Oxygenation, Invasive hemodynamic monitoring which include monitoring of CVP, Pulmonary capillary wedge pressure, and intra-arterial blood pressure. There are 2 state of the art Vela and DAGGER Ventilators and the residents are well trained in Invasive as well non invasive ventilation.

Cardiology ward 32 is adjacent to the ICCU which serves as an intermediate care as well as general ward for patients admitted electively for procedures. It has 32 beds. It caters to the admissions from the OPD, elective patients admitted for cardiac catheterizations and those transferred after stabilisation from the ICCU. There is one sister in charge for the ward and 2 junior staff Nurses working in shift duties who look after the patients in the ward. The patient management in the ward is supervised by a senior faculty everyday. The ward also has all the facilities for emergency treatment when required.

It is a Philips Machine which is the latest in town providing the best resolution and clarity while doing procedures. The procedures performed are coronary angiography and angioplasties, Balloon Mitral/Aortic and Pulmonary Valvotomy, pediatric catheterisations, Permanent pacemaker implantations, peripheral interventions like peripheral angiographies and angioplasty of renal, carotid, subclavian and Iliofemoral vessels. Device closure of the ASD and PDA has been started in LTMMC Cath lab. The Catheterization lab is well equipped with doctors and paramedical personnel. There are always three technicians, four servants, one Chief Sister in-charge and two Staff-nurses in the Lab all the time. There are always senior consultant supervising every case in the lab. The lab is functional from 8 AM to 5 PM most of the days. Emergency BMV’s are done irrespective of the hour and has got the best success rate with minimal complication rates comparable with the international standards. It is a matter of pride for the entire department. All the interventions are done with a CVTS back up in case of a complication with a very low morbidity and mortality Cath Lab is equipped with a ACT machine which is performed for all interventional patients. • Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC) Department offers comprehensive primary health care services to the people in Dharavi Slums through its Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), established in 1981, which is attached to the LTMMC & GH and is situated at 60 feet road, Dharavi. Preventive, Curative and Rehabilitative services are provided through Adult general OPD, Pediatric OPD, Immunization center, Growth & Development Clinic, and special OPDs like NCD-OPD and Adult Palliative care OPD, Shakti & Suraksha Clinic. Health awareness activities are carried out in the community by resident doctors and interns.

Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC): The services of the Department of Community Medicine, LTMMC & GH extend beyond the hospital setting to reach rural and tribal populations through its Rural Health Training Centre. The establishment of the RHTC was in accordance with the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC), which mandate the presence of a Rural Health Training Centre as an essential component of a medical college. Vasind PHC has been upgraded to function as a Rural Health Training Centre in May 2016. It caters to a large rural population and provides healthcare services through an organized network of subcentres, villages, and community-based health and nutrition facilities. The RHTC, Vasind, supervises a total of eight subcentres, namely Ambarje, Asangaon, Aavale, Sane, Shere, Raykarpada, Vasind, and Valshet. The total population covered under this centre is approximately 84,345. The service area comprises 26 villages and includes 66 Anganwadi centres that provide nutrition and early childhood services under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme. In addition, the RHTC area includes 56 paades and is administratively supported by 18 Gram Panchayats. Through this network, the RHTC facilitates the delivery of primary healthcare services, community outreach activities, and field training for medical and paramedical students. All the national health programmes are implemented at the grassroot level and supervised by the Community Medicine Department. The RHTC also facilitates specialized referral services from LTMMC & GH, with regular visits by specialists from the departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Medicine, Orthopaedics, and Dermatology. Furthermore, interns and postgraduate students from the Department of Community Medicine are regularly posted at the RHTC as part of their academic and field training.

The Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) unit at the Department of Community Medicine, Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital, Sion, Mumbai plays a vital role in surveillance of notifiable diseases in the hospital. It monitors monsoon-related illnesses such as dengue, malaria, and leptospirosis, along with other epidemic-prone conditions. Through systematic data collection and analysis, the unit ensures early detection and prompt response to outbreaks in coordination with municipal health authorities.

NCD Corner Non Communicable Diseases are one of the major challenges for public health in 21st century not only in terms of human sufferings, but also the harm/burden inflicted on the socioeconomic development of the country. In view of the same NCD corner was set up on 2nd August, 2022. The purpose of the NCD corner is to screen all persons above the age of 30 years for Hypertension, Diabetes and Obesity. This is being done by checking their weight, height, blood pressure and Random Blood Sugar. If any person has been found to have high BP, high Sugar level or are overweight / obese, they are referred to the medicine OPD for further management of hypertension & Diabetes and to Dietition for overweight/ Obesity. The data is uploaded on the NCD portal. Preventive NCD Clinic On 22nd September 2025, a preventive OPD was inaugurated by the dept. of Community Medicine in Medicine OPD 6 to give a continuum of care to the screening activities done. Follow up cases of chronic hypertension and diabetes are examined and personalised counselling on Lifestyle modification and importance of medicine adherence is given to the patients. Tobacco Cessation OPD A tobacco cessation centre has been established in psychiatry OPD on 24th September 2024 supported by Narotam Sekhsaria foundation. Patients screened for Non communicable diseases and found to have addiction to tobacco are referred to the counsellor present in the psychiatry OPD where specialized services are provided to help individuals quit tobacco use through counselling and medical support. Under 5 Immunisation Department of Community medicine took charge of the Under-5 immunization OPD on 01/07/2024. Vaccines are procured from F north ward and given as per the Universal immunisation schedule from birth to 5 years of age. Birth dose is given in the Post natal wards alongwith vaccination in Transitional care Unit (TCU) and additional doses to immunocompromised children. The data of under 5 immunised is entered in U win portal and the vaccine record in Evin portal.

The ENT OPD has an average attendance of about 180 - 200 patients a day. Most of the patients are from the nearby Dharavi and Sion-Koliwada areas, but patients are referred from different parts of the Maharashtra and sometimes from the other states as well. OPD services are run everyday (Monday to Saturday).

The department conducts elective and emergency surgery throughout the year. About 1000 major and minor surgeries are done yearly. In addition to the routine ENT surgeries, advanced endoscopic skull base surgery, phonosurgery, oncosurgery and cochlear implants is done on a regular basis.

The department trains UG and PG students in the OPD and OT and also via classes, lectures, demonstrations, seminars etc.

The department has a dedicated audiology and speech therapy unit. About 4000-5000 audiograms and 350-500 speech therapy sessions are conducted every year.

Our facility offers comprehensive hemodialysis services available round the clock, ensuring uninterrupted and high-quality patient care. Equipped with 15 advanced hemodialysis machines, we are capable of handling a wide range of patient needs efficiently. We maintain the highest standards of water purification with two portable RO plants, apart from the central RO plant, ensuring safe and reliable dialysis treatment. For critically ill patients, bedside hemodialysis in the ICU is available, providing timely and convenient care without the need for patient transfer. The Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Programme at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (LTMGH) was successfully initiated in October 2025, marking an important milestone in expanding renal replacement therapy services at the institution. This initiative represents a significant step toward providing comprehensive and patient-centered dialysis care. A key highlight of the programme has been the introduction of percutaneous PD catheter insertion, performed with the valuable support of Dr. Vivek Ukirde and his team from the Department of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Their expertise has enabled safe, minimally invasive catheter placements, ensuring timely initiation of therapy and improved patient comfort. Since the launch of the programme, four patients have been successfully initiated on peritoneal dialysis at LTMGH. The early outcomes have been encouraging, reflecting effective multidisciplinary coordination and a strong commitment to enhancing nephrology services. The establishment of the PD programme strengthens LTMGH’s capacity to offer home-based dialysis options and underscores the institution’s dedication to advancing patient care through collaborative clinical efforts.

Our center provides 24/7 comprehensive hemodialysis services with advanced infrastructure and a patient-centric approach. We are equipped with four machines dedicated exclusively for ICU patients amongst which two machines are in the MICU for bedside dialysis, ensuring prompt and uninterrupted care for critically ill patients. We maintain high standards of safety and water quality with two portable RO plants. In addition to conventional hemodialysis, we routinely perform SLED (Sustained Low Efficiency Dialysis) for patients requiring specialized renal support in critical care settings. Ø The various facilities available in the PICU include invasive and non-invasive ventilation, continuous monitoring, peritoneal dialysis and tracheostomy. Ø It admits approximately 600 patients per year with 15-20 % of the patients requiring ventilation. Urban Health Centre, Dharavi Ø The Urban Health Centre (UHC) is situated in Dharavi and is a peripheral unit of Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital. Ø It has a 30-bedded Pediatric ward. Ø The following facilities are available at UHC, Dharavi: • Outdoor patient clinic:(Timing- 9.30 am -12.30 pm daily) – Children less than 5 years of age are seen by the Pediatrician and those above 5 yrs are initially screened by residents from the Preventive and Social Medicine Department (PSM) and then referred to the Pediatrician if needed. • Immunization: Children receive immunization daily as per UIP schedule. • Nutritional Rehabilitation, Research and training Centre (NRRTC): Children with malnutrition are admitted in Pediatric ward. • Indoor Patient Department: there is a 30 bedded ward for indoor admission of Pediatric patients at UHC Dharavi.

Pediatric Centre of Excellence for HIV care (PCOE) The Department of Pediatrics at the LTMGH houses the ‘Pediatric Center of Excellence for HIV Care [PCoE]’, which is the referral tertiary center for children with HIV for the state of Maharashtra. Ø It is one of the seven Centers of Excellence in the country, providing comprehensive HIV care & treatment to 3715 registered HIV infected children as on February 2026. Ø Palliative care is also provided for the children in need. Ø The ‘Paediatric HIV Telemedicine Initiative’is an e-decentralized model of expert paediatric HIV care and a referral service which was started in 2013 as a pilot project through the PCoE in collaboration with NACO, MSACS, NHM, MCGM & UNICEF. Ø This Telemedicine Initiative is a video-linked delivery of expert services, designed to reach the unreached HIV infected infants, children & adolescents with quality care, without them having to travel to Mumbai, thereby saving time, effort & expenses incurred for the same.
